Introduction

Motel Rocks is dedicated to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking from taking place within its business, and we place the same expectation on our suppliers. We have a zero-tolerance approach to slavery, servitude, forced labour and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships; truly cultivating a community we can be proud of and fostering the family feel of Motel that we are so proud of.

This policy supports compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015, and aligns with our values on ethical business conduct and human rights.

Scope of this Policy

This policy applies to;

All employees of Motel, whether they be permanent or temporary.
All contractors, consultants, suppliers and third-party representatives
All subsidiaries and entities under the control of Motel Rocks Group.

Our Commitment to the Modern Slavery Act 2015

As an equal opportunities employer, we're committed to creating and ensuring a non-discriminatory and respectful working environment for our staff. We want all our staff to feel confident that they can expose wrongdoing without any risk to themselves.

Our recruitment and people management processes are designed to ensure that all prospective employees are legally entitled to work in the UK and to safeguard employees from any abuse or coercion.

We do not enter into business with any organisation, in the UK or abroad, which knowingly supports or is found to be involved in slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour.

Responsibilities

All employees must read, understand and comply with this policy. Any employee, consultant or relevant stakeholder concerned about a breach must report this to the People & Potential team, who will treat it with confidentiality and complete a further investigation.

The People & Potential team will also be responsible for implementing this policy and monitoring its adherence within the business, as well as ensuring sufficient training across Motel.

Overall responsibility for ensuring this policy complies with legal and ethical obligations shall belong to the Board of Directors for Motel.

Structure and Supply Chains

Motel Rocks is a global firm operating across the USA, Europe and Indonesia, with a global supply chain and international audience. Over 30 years and a team of 200+ people later, every piece of clothing we make is created with the same spirit of fun, freedom and adventure as the road trip that first defined the brand. We’re still ambitious and independent, but now we’re a global team - we work from an operational base in Worcester, two other UK locations and a creative studio in Bali.

The nature of our business requires that we work in conjunction with a range of suppliers, however we pride ourselves on building close working relationships with our Tier 1 suppliers, all of whom comply with the International Labour Organisation standards.

Policies Relating to Slavery and Human Trafficking

Aside from this policy, the following policies exist within our organisation which demonstrate our commitment to an equitable workplace;

Equality, Inclusion and Diversity

Positive Work Environment policy, including Bullying & Harassment

Due Diligence Processes Relating to Slavery and Human Trafficking

As part of our efforts to monitor, manage and reduce the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring within our business or supply chains, we adopt the following due diligence procedures:

Scrutinise any identified areas of risk within our business and supply chains

Adopt a zero tolerance approach to slavery and human trafficking throughout the organisation and our supply chains

Provide support and protection from detriment or disadvantage to any person who, in the public interest, raises genuine concerns amounting to a protected disclosure.

Risk and Compliance

Our organisation regularly evaluates the nature and extent to which our business and our supply chains are exposed to the risk of modern slavery occurring.

We ensure our suppliers are aware of our policies, and encourage them to adopt our high standards. We adopt a zero tolerance approach to slavery and human trafficking throughout the organisation which extends to our supply chains.

Training

We ensure all employees are aware of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains. To encourage a culture of learning and awareness, we have the below training programme in place to enable our employees to identify and report any potential breaches of the organisations anti-slavery and human trafficking policies.;
